As part of our Read Across America celebration, R.V. Kerr Elementary is launching our schoolwide reading event — One School, One Book!
This year, every Kerr Kat family will be reading
✨ 8 Class Pets + 1 Squirrel ÷ 1 Dog = Chaos ✨

Each family will receive a copy of the book today, along with a reading schedule. We encourage you to read about 15 minutes each night as a family.
Why are we so excited about this?
Because when an entire school reads the same book…
📖 Students build stronger literacy skills
💬 Conversations happen at school AND at home
❤️ Families create meaningful reading memories
🎉 And our whole community shares in the fun together!
At school, students will participate in daily discussions, activities, and trivia questions. Be ready, your child may come home talking about Twitch the squirrel or predicting what kind of chaos happens next!
We’ll also have a family participation challenge on social media, so stay tuned for ways to share your reading moments and win prizes!

🐾 Hey Kerr Kats! Spring Break Reading Challenge! 📚
Get ready for a schoolwide reading adventure during Spring Break! I will be reading 8 Class Pets + 1 Squirrel ÷ 1 Dog = Chaos from the very beginning, and YOU will have a chance to join the fun and participate in daily reading challenges.
🏆 What’s at stake?
Students who participate and answer the trivia questions correctly will have a chance to win a Reading Champion Trophy when we return from Spring Break!
📖 How to participate:
1️⃣ Grab your copy of the book and read along with me.
2️⃣ Tune in on the Kerr Facebook page every day at 10:00 AM beginning Monday.
3️⃣ Listen to the chapter reading.
4️⃣ Answer the daily trivia questions for your chance to win!
To participate, you must read along with the story as I read.
Let’s see which Kerr Kats are ready to Rise Up to Excellence through reading.
